Alberto Resende Monteiro, an ornithologist who received his Ph.D. from the Universidad de Navaja, Pamplona, Spain in “Ecological and Biological Aspects of Wild Birds,” and his Post-Doctorate at Louisiana State University. He is currently a Professor at the Universidade do Vale da Paraíba, São Paolo, where he has social projects and also works in partner with Projeto Rondon from the Minister of Defense of the Federal Government. His research interests include biology, conservation, environment, ecology, and low-income communities. Alberto enjoys taking groups of students to the Amazon or on excursions to the Atlantic Forest. He will be teaching a module on the Amazon, its environment and sustainability development; Environmental Conservation in Brazil, Deforestation in Brazil and its Environmental Impact, and Brazilian Indigenous nations.
