Theater and film historian and critic Galina Aksenova studied at the Institute of Theater, Music, and Cinematography (LGITMiK) in St. Peterburg, Russia and received her Ph.D at the State Institute of Theater Art (GITIS) in Moscow. She is the author of two books: The Taganka Theater 1968 and Other Years and Training Theater. She has written numerous essays and reviews for Russian-language magazines and newspapers, as well as program notes for theater performances in France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Israel and the United States. Aksenova has also written several television scripts, including the script for the five-part documentary Dreams about Israel. She co-authored the TV serial Theater of My Memory. She is an executive producer of Atos-audiokniga, a CD distributor of Russian literatary classics. Galina Aksenova is Associate Professor of Cinema at the Moscow Art Theater School. Her current field of interest is Russian comedy and Russian director Yevgeny Bauer.
