Mercedes Fernández Isla, from Spain, received her licenciatura from the Universidad Complutense of Madrid and her Ph.D. from Boston University. Her area of research lies at the intersection of literature and film, as well as in the area of second language acquisition. She has taught at Bucknell University, College Jean Zay and Licée Rabelais (Chinon, France), U.S. university programs in Madrid (Boston University, New York University), and various institutions and foundations in Madrid. She is currently a professor with Middlebury College’s program in Madrid, where she teaches in both the graduate and undergraduate programs
