Agustín Reyes Torres, from Spain, works as an Assistant Professor at the Universitat de València and at the Hispanic Studies Program of the University of Virginia in Valencia. He received his Ph.D. from the Universitat de València (Spain) in English Philology, where his doctoral dissertation focused on postcolonial studies and the creation of an alternative subjectivity in the African American detective novel. He has published several articles on his specialization and most recently, a book titled Walter Mosley’s Detective Novels: The creation of a Black Subjectivity. He also holds the M.A. in Comparative Literature from the University of Iowa, where he concentrated on Chicano literature. He has taught different English and Spanish courses at Middlebury College, University of Virginia (Charlottesville), Semester at Sea, Universidad Europea de Madrid, Florida State University, Caxton College, and the University of Iowa, where he was a course coordinator. He was a 2000-2001 recipient of the University's Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award.
