Paul Reynolds

Paul Reynolds has served as Principal Violist with the Sarasota Opera Company, the National Chamber Orchestra in Washington, D.C., and the New World Symphony of Miami, with whom he also performed as soloist. While in D.C, he played in the National Symphony Orchestra, Kennedy Center Opera and served as associate professor of Music at George Washington University. Over the years he has participated in many festivals including Sun Valley, Mainly Mozart, Tanglewood Music Center, Spoleto, Music Academy of the West, Pacific Music Festival in Japan, Santa Fe Opera and the National Repertory Orchestra. Paul studied viola with Roberto Diaz and Robert Vernon and Martha Katz. Donald McInnes, and Michael Tree were also very influential. He has had the privilege of performing with orchestras in some of the world’s great Concert Halls such as the Royal Concertgebouw, Lincoln Center, and Kitara hall in Japan. As Soloist, he has performed with the National Repertory Orchestra, New World Symphony as well as the Burlington Chamber Orchestra. He has been invited as a chamber musician to play concerts at the Isabella Gardner Museum in Boston, Steamboat Springs, and in Monte Carlo, Monaco, to name a few.

Mr. Reynolds is currently Principal Violist of the Burlington Chamber Orchestra  the Green Mountain Opera Festival and is the violist in the Kapadi Trio. He also performs with the Vermont Symphony, Vermont Mozart Festival, Capital City Concerts, and has often been heard live on Vermont Public Radio. He is a founding member of the Sky Meadow Chamber Players, and is on the faculty of the Monteverdi Music School and Middlebury College.

Recent engangements inlclude guest performances with the Fry Street Quartet, Harrington String Quartet as well as viola master classes at the Caine School of Music and the West Texas A&M School of Music. He lives in Montpelier with his wife, two daughters, two cats, and Benny the labradoodle.

An avid pedagogue, Paul Reynolds devotes much of his time to teaching the next generation of musicians.  He has served on the faculty of several summer music camps including Point Counterpoint, Arts for the Soul, Green Mountain Youth Symphony, Vermont Youth Orchestra an is involved in annual series of string master classes which is part of the Sky Meadow Chamber Music festival.
