Degrees Ph.D. in Hispanic philology from the Universidad Complutense in Madrid. She is Professor of Spanish grammar and Director of the Department of Spanish Language and General Linguistics at the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia in Madrid and also serves as Vice President of the Asociación para la enseñanza del español como lengua extranjera (ASELE). She has published books and articles on Spanish syntax, the history of Spanish grammar, phonetics, and the teaching of Spanish as a second language. Among her works are Estructuras sintácticas del español actual, Lengua española (co-author), and Manual de estilo(co-author). Her latest publication is Formas temporales del pasado en indicativo (Madrid, 1995).
