There are many opportunities for students interested in connecting summer international volunteer experiences or internships, study abroad civic engagement experiences, or for international students connecting experiences in their home countries with local organizations doing related work. The issues these organizations explore are global in nature and students who would like to work on nearly any topic area on a global level can find something of interest. Community development, microfinance, corporate social responsibility, poverty, hunger, homelessness, literacy, environmental conservation, family planning, elderly services, education, counseling, and health care are some examples of connections Middlebury students have made in the past.
Students interested in relating this work to academics will likely find direct connections with International Politics & Economics, International Studies, any of the languages offered at Middlebury College, and Sociology/Anthropology.
