Many agencies and individuals in both the Addison County and Middlebury College communities are working to alleviate poverty locally, nationally, and globally. During the past few years, both county-wide and on campus awareness-raising symposia, lectures, film screenings, and direct service initiatives have exploded. Students with an interest in counseling, community housing, nutrition, health care, education, literacy, fundraising, social work, social service administration, mentoring, religious/spiritual leadership, and international human rights have made connections with these organizations.

Students who are interested in relating this work to their academics have found direct connections with Poverty Studies, Economics, Sociology/Anthropology, Teacher Education, Psychology, Religion, Political Science, Women’s and Gender Studies, and International Studies.
