Vermont Institute on the Caribbean (VIC), a non-profit, non-governmental organization works with communities in the Caribbean to build collaborative partnerships that nurture self-sufficiency and local empowerment. VIC projects in community revitalization, public health, education, sports programming and the arts strive to create sustainable responses to local challenges and opportunities and improve the quality of life for current and future generations.

• Develop VIC outreach and publicity materials including brochures, a quarterly newsletter, an expanded mailing list, and maintenance of the VIC website,
• Conduct research into grant funding opportunities to support VIC programs in the Dominican Republic and Cuba,
• Provide special assistance in coordinating community-based educational outreach events such as the annual Vermont/Dominican Republic Little League Baseball Cultural Exchange Program.

Two January internship positions are available to act as assistant to VIC Director in support of the Healthy Neighborhoods Healthy Kids (HNHK) an environmental education and civic engagement initiative currently underway in the north coast town of Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.

There will also be summer internship positions available to work with VIC Director and local elementary and middle-school educators in the development and implementation of this environmental education and civic engagement program.
