Warp to a Future Without Cancer." The all-night event was held on the Middlebury College athletics fields. Relay teams participated round-the-clock, walking in shifts around the track to commemorate cancer victims and in honor of cancer survivors and those who are working to overcome the disease. Luminaria — candles housed in small paper bags that were purchased by event supporters for a $5 relay donation to the American Cancer Society — were lit during a special ceremony, and lined the relay track.
Over the past four years the Relay for Life event at Middlebury College has raised approximately $812,042, and so far this year's donations total $154,266. Donations on behalf of the Middlebury event can still be made online here.
Student chairs Josh Chan '08 and Heather Neuwirth '08 led student and community volunteers to plan the event. Next year Ruthie Reinken '10 and Tiffany Orlowski '09 will serve as chairs for the event.
