We offer courses in general chemistry, organic chemistry, environmental chemistry, biochemistry, physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry and instrumental analysis. Our chemistry and biochemistry degree programs are certified by the American Chemical Society. We also offer interdisciplinary joint majors in molecular biology and biochemistry (MBB) and environmental chemistry. Students can emphasize physical chemistry, organic chemistry, environmental chemistry, or biochemistry in their upper level electives. The small class sizes of these advanced courses provide excellent opportunities for students to receive individual attention. Laboratory work is an essential part of many courses, and students gain hands-on experience using sophisticated state-of-the-art instruments. Students are encouraged to pursue one or more semesters of undergraduate research where the student-mentor relationship is further enhanced.
