Multi-Agent Programming in NetLogo:
A Primer
Matthew Dickerson
Department of Computer Science
Middlebury College
Multi-Agent Simulation and Individual-Based Models (or IBMs) are important new paradigms for research in ecology and economics, (and many other fields as well). The Netlogo programming language was designed to provide powerful tools for fast development of multi-agent simulations and IBMs. This talk will briefly introduce the concepts of agent-based modeling, and then focus on the NetLogo language. To introduce the language, we will write (hopefully in 40 minutes) a complete working video game.
