Will Pyle is an associate professor in the Economics Department and Director of the Program in Russian and East European Studies. He is also a research fellow of the William Davidson Institute at the University of Michigan and has held visiting research positions at the Bank of Finland Institute for Economies in Transition and the Centre for European Integration Studies in Bonn. His research, which focuses broadly on the evolution of markets and market-supporting institutions in post-socialist countries, has received support from the National Council on Eurasian and East European Research, the William Davidson Institute, the International Research and Exchanges Board and the Fulbright-Hays Fellowship Program. Will’s published research has appeared in the Journal of Law, Economics and Organization, the Journal of Comparative Economics, Economics of Transition, and other outlets. Will earned a B.A. degree in History from Harvard College, an M.A. in Russian and East European Studies from Indiana University and a Ph.D. from Duke University in Economics. He lives in New Haven, Vermont with his wife, Silvia, and two sons, Matias and Lucas.
