There are several generous prizes and awards for which students majoring in economics may compete.

THE FREDERICK C. DIRKS PRIZE IN ECONOMICS

Established in 1985 by friends wishing to honor the internationally distinguished accomplishments of Dr. Frederick C. Dirks '30 (retired former senior advisor with the International Monetary Fund) on the occasion of his 55th Reunion. Awarded each year to a student entering his or her senior year with extraordinary achievement and high promise for continuing leadership and success in economics and related fields.

HARRY M. FIFE MEMORIAL

Established in 1950 in memory of Harry M. Fife, professor of economics, 1925-50. Awarded to a senior who combines excellence in economics and athletics.

CHRISTIAN A.JOHNSON PRIZE IN ECONOMICS

Established in 1996 and funded by the Christian A. Johnson Professorship in Economics, held by David C. Colander. Awarded each year to the student graduating with the highest grade point average in Economics.
