Course members and their partners presented their findings as part of the January 25-27, 2005 conference at Middlebury College,
'What Works? New Strategies for a Melting Planet'
Social Marketing and Environmental Affairs
Visiting Lecturer: Nadine Barnicle
Through discussions on ecopsychology, media literacy, and social marketing, this course developed a context for supporting environmental issues with social marketing strategies. Students selected an issue in the first week to follow throughout the course and worked on writing, public speaking and strategic planning skills.
"Turn Your Key, Be Idle Free"
Students focused on the environmental and health effects of idling cars at the Weybridge Elementary School, developed and distributed an
informational brochure
, gave a presentation to fourth-sixth graders, and motivated the school to post signs in its pick-up / drop-off areas and parking lots.
