Freeman is not a typical dining hall, but one where you get to sit with other students and professors of German and speak, what? German, of course. It's another great opportunity not only to learn, but also to escape the huge dining halls and dine in a quieter setting. Freeman can't be called a quiet place, though, since you hear Italian, Spanish, Russian, etc. all spoken around you. Every language taught at Middlebury has a table in Freeman for lunch every day and dinner on Mondays. This is one of the best ways to meet upper-level students who have already studied abroad in Germany and always have a thousand stories to tell. The German teaching assistant from Mainz and at least one professor are at the table every day, so you always get a chance to practice your Deutsch.
