Bernadette Gunn is a Film & Media Culture major who lived at the German house, and she does not hesistate to brag about how her experience living at the German house has enriched her college years. As the Residential Assistant, she worked closely with the teaching assistant from Mainz, Germany to organize the events which the German house celebrates. She was especially proud of the events like Oktoberfest and Weihnachtsfest (Christmas), celebrations in which the German house shares the German culture with the rest of the Middlebury College campus and community.

Benjamin Yates
majored in German studies and Economics and studied in the spring of his junior year at the Middlebury School in Mainz, Germany. When asked about his interest in the German language and culture, he said that due to his interest in international affairs and foreign policy, combined with his passion for economics and a desire to do something different, he decided to learn German ... and the rest is history. He hoped to secure a job with the Deutsche Bank or another firm in an international setting in which he would be using his German language skills.
