Will Pyle is an associate professor in Middlebury College’s Economics Department. He has held visiting research positions at the Bank of Finland Institute for Economies in Transition and the Centre for European Integration Studies in Bonn. His research, which focuses broadly on the evolution of markets and market-supporting institutions in post-socialist countries, has received support from the National Council on Eurasian and East European Research, the William Davidson Institute, the International Research and Exchanges Board and the Fulbright-Hays Fellowship Program. Most recently, he received monies to launch a project on land ownership and access for enterprises in Russian cities. Will’s published research has appeared in the Journal of Law, Economics and Organization, the Journal of Comparative Economics, Oxford Economic Papers, Economics of Transition, Europe-Asia Studies and other outlets. Will earned a B.A. degree in History from Harvard College, an M.A. in Russian and East European Studies from Indiana University and a Ph.D. from Duke University in Economics. He lives in Middlebury, Vermont with his wife, Silvia, and two sons, Matias and Lucas.
