Linda White teaches courses on Transnational Gender Issues, Global Feminisms, Ethnographic Practice and Theory, and Japanese Culture and Gender Issues. She has carried out ethnographic research in Tokyo on Japanese feminism, focusing on grassroots activism and the centrality of family in the Japanese women’s movement. Professor White recently did fieldwork on bioethical questions related to gender, organ transplants, and brain death. She is currently working on a documentary life history film about an elderly Japanese woman.
