Gizem Saka joined the economics department as visiting faculty in fall 2008. She holds a Master of Science degree and a PhD from Cornell University. Prior to joining from Middlebury College, she taught at the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University; and at the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University. During her doctoral studies, she was a teaching assistant for various undergraduate economics courses at Cornell University’s Department of Economics, from where she holds two teaching awards.
Her research interests are in behavioral economics and experimental economics. She incorporates insights from psychology into economic decision-making, and tests the predictions of these insights in the laboratory. She works, in particular, on inter-temporal preferences, decision-making in groups, and perceptions of fairness in bargaining.
