Bassoon

Rachael Elliott is a freelance bassoonist based in northeastern Vermont. A founding member of the new music ensemble, Clogs, Rachael has toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe and recorded several critically-acclaimed albums with Clogs. Her interest in contemporary and improvised music has led her to commission and perform several new works featuring the bassoon.

Recent grants and awards include: National Endowment for the Arts/Chamber Music America Special Commissioning Award (with Clogs); Vermont Arts Council Opportunity Grant; American Composers Forum Encore Grant. 

Rachael earned degrees in bassoon performance from Manhattan School of Music and Yale School of Music, where she studied with Frank Morelli. Other teachers have included Janet Polk and Pascal Gallois. She currently teaches at the University of Vermont, Middlebury College, and Kinhaven Music School.
