The Neuroscience Program is an interdisciplinary major that focuses on the nervous system. It examines varied concepts of the mind, multiple functions of the brain, the behavior of humans and non-human animals, a variety of nervous systems, the operation of nerve cells, and the role that physical and chemical processes play in all these.

Investigation of the nervous system is a scientific inquiry that requires a multi-disciplinary approach. As a result, the neuroscience major combines study of the natural sciences (biology, chemistry and math), social science (psychology), and the humanities (philosophy).

This approach provides students with a solid science background, and an understanding of diverse approaches to and views of the nervous system, the mind, and behavior. In addition, there are opportunities to explore specialized areas of neuroscience via upper-level electives, senior study and research.
