Professor Davis teaches courses in ethics, American religion, and Christian thought. Specializing in Puritan moral theology, his interests also include the history of Christian theology and ethics, the morality of war, contemporary bioethics, and religion in American politics. Author of The Moral Theology of Roger Williams: Christian Conviction and Public Ethics (2004) and editor of On Religious Liberty: Selections from the Works of Roger Williams (Harvard Press, forthcoming), he currently is writing a book on religion and the debate over moral values. Professor Davis came to Middlebury College in September 2001.
