Between its varied academic programs, its School in Russia, the intensive summer Russian School, and the many extracurricular activities, Middlebury offers more opportunities to learn about Russia and Eastern Europe than any comparable College. Small class size and a dedicated faculty make Middlebury's the best undergraduate Russian program in the country.

The many Russian students studying at Middlebury and the strong ties between Vermont and Russia give students ample opportunities to meet Russians and practice their skills outside the classroom.  The range of extracuriccular activities is impressive: students can live in the Russian House, sing in the Russian Choir, eat lunch at the Russian Table, broadcast on Russian Radio, and enjoy the activities of the Slavic Club.  Middlebury's programs abroad allow students to spend a year in one of four Russian cities, allowing them to reach a level of proficiency surpassing that of many graduate students.
