2009
On May 9 at the annual end-of-the-year picnic, the Chellis Fest, was enlivened by a thunderstorm which turned off all the power and set the alarm system ringing throughout the presentation of the annual Feminist of the Year Awards. This year we had 15 people nominated. BonnieRita Hearthstone, the Interim Director of Chellis House, competed with the alarms to spend a moment honoring each nominee and sharing brief excepts from their nomination letters. The recipients of the awards this year were Kamakshi Murti (German) for faculty, Ximena Mejia for staff, and Rayna Rogowsky '09 for student Feminist of the Year. The other faculty nominated were Patricia Manley (Geology) and Nathalie Peutz (International Studies). The other staff nominated were Karen Guttentag, Karin Hanta, and Naomi Neff.
