Denmark: Denmark's International Studies (DIS) Medical Practice and Policy Program
DIS offers a novel and innovative study abroad option for well-motivated students who have a serious academic interest in medicine. Courses such as the following are offered: Human Health and Disease: A Clinical Approach, Health Care in Scandinavia, and Brain Functioning and the Experience of Self. The Human Health and Disease course is held at the National University Hospital (Rigshospitalet) and is taught by senior doctors of the hospital. The course will offer students privileged access to a number of hospital departments and laboratories. In addition, students will be able to use the adjacent National Science and Medical Library as well as the Macroanatomical Laboratory at the Medical School of the University of Copenhagen. The Health Care in Scandinavia course will include study visits to the World Health Organization (WHO), whose European headquarters is located in Copenhagen, the Danish Institute for Clinical Epidemiology, as well as various health care facilities. Internationally known experts will join with practitioners in the field to secure in-depth understanding of challenges faced by a modern health and medical system.

England: University of Sussex (Pre-Med Semester)
The University of Sussex has offered, since 1990, a program specifically designed for the needs of pre-medical students from North America. Sussex offers a complete range of the necessary courses in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. At Sussex students have an opportunity to volunteer at places such as the Royal Sussex County Hospital, a drop-in center for people with HIV, a hospice, and in the campus rescue team. A small number of students have the opportunity to do a research project at the hospital. The MCAT may be taken in Sussex at the same time as in the USA, and preparation classes are available in the Spring Term (January-March). (Please note: You can study at Sussex for the full year or for spring semester only.)
