Important Notice About Lead Paint

Prevent Lead Poisoning. Please report all "deteriorated" paint on the inside or outside of your building to Middlebury College, Business Services, 161 Adirondack View, Middlebury, Vermont 05753, (802) 443-5504.

Vermont law requires landlords to provide information regarding lead paint to all tenants residing in housing units built before 1978. Any unit built before 1978 (all College housing) is assumed to have lead paint. The law also requires annual inspections of units for chipping paint. In units housing children under the age of six, the law requires annual cleaning of window wells and sills. The College does not track which units have children; therefore, the college performs an annual cleaning of all windowsills and window wells.

Information will be provided to you with your lease but for further information on lead paint, please go to the Vermont Housing and Conservation Board's site at http://www.vhcb.org/lead3.html.
