Old Stone Mill Purchased

Earlier this month, the College finalized the purchase of the town's historic Old Stone Mill, which is located along the banks of the Otter Creek just below the Vermont State Craft Center at Frog Hollow.

Plans for the building include art studios and a public gallery. The Storm Cafe, one of the more popular eating establishments in town, will continue to lease space in the Mill's ground floor.

Frost House Ransacked

A few days after Christmas, a number of vandals broke into Ripton's Homer Noble Farm, the former summer home of Robert Frost, and significantly damaged the College property.

News of the break-in circled the globe, appearing in media outlets as far afield as India and China. Last week, Vermont State Police issued citations to 28 youths, a majority of them Middlebury Union High School students, for their connection to an underage drinking party at the farmhouse, which caused more than $10,000 in damages.
