Justice for All
John G. Roberts, Jr., the chief justice of the United States, will give the 2006 John Hamilton Fulton Lecture in the Liberal Arts on October 24 in Middlebury's Mead Chapel.
Established in 1966, the Fulton Lecture is named for the father of the late Alexander Hamilton Fulton, an emeritus member of the College's board of trustees. Past speakers have included James A. Baker III, Wynton Marsalis, William H. Rehnquist, Beverly Sills, and Elie Wiesel.

Wood over Oil
At the fall board meeting, Middlebury trustees approved a recommendation by College administrators to construct a biomass plant on campus, which should cut the College's greenhouse gas emissions by nearly 12,500 metric tons annually.
The plant-which is estimated to cost $11 million-will generate power from wood chips, rather than fuel oil.

Moderated by Middlebury alum Christopher Graff '75, a lively discourse played before a packed house.

Kelly's Ride
The Middlebury alpine ski team raised more than $56,000 in a benefit bicycle ride for teammate Kelly Brush '08, who was paralyzed from the waist down in a ski racing accident last February.
Brush participated in the grueling 100-mile loop through Addison County, completing more than eight miles on a handcycle.
