Carey Bass ’99 joined the communications staff as a designer in the spring of 2007. She works on a wide variety of projects, from pieces for the Alumni Fund and Office of Gift Planning to the College engagement calendar and Middlebury Magazine. With the announcement of the Middlebury Initiative came Carey’s primary role as the Initiative designer.
As a studio art major at Middlebury, Carey’s focus was on photography, an area of study which has been very valuable in her new venture as a graphic designer. A summer spent at the Rhode Island School of Design piqued her interest in design, so when the opportunity became available to explore that path at the College, she was thrilled to give it a try.
Raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Carey never expected to stay in Vermont after graduation, but after meeting Luther Tenny, a Middlebury native and College employee as well, she reconsidered. Carey and Luther were married in 2003 and live in East Middlebury.
