Kelly Rizzo joined the communications staff in June of 2007 as production coordinator. With primary responsibilities focusing on the coordination of all print production, Kelly works closely with the staff to keep all jobs on track and on time. Prior to Middlebury, Kelly was the production manager and editor for Exemplars Inc., an educational publishing firm based in Underhill, Vermont.
After spending the summer of 1996 in New York interning in the publicity department of Little Brown publishers, Kelly gained a true appreciation for the attention to detail that was necessary to effectively manage a successful publishing firm. Her work with Richardson’s Publishing in Chicago introduced her to the design end of the field, and Kelly hoped to find a career that allowed her to mesh both worlds.
Born outside Chicago, Kelly graduated from Denison University in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in mass communication. She then worked in Chicago as a production coordinator in the publishing and design department of the American Academy for Pediatric Dentistry. Kelly has also enjoyed her freelance design work for several publications.
It was her husband’s New England roots that brought Kelly and Matt Rizzo to Vermont in 2001. Kelly enjoys time spent with her two sons, Jack and Henry, as well as cooking and gardening—and although never considering herself an avid outdoors person, she has grown to truly appreciate the idyllic beauty that Vermont has to offer.
