Maria Stadtmueller writes and edits brochures, letters, and case statements that support Middlebury's fundraising and student recruitment.

Maria received an M.F.A. in Nonfiction Writing from The University of Iowa and a B.A. in German from Hamilton College. She was an environmental columnist for a Seattle newspaper, ran a chamber music series in San Francisco, directed funding programs for a national chamber music organization, and for a while there performed stand-up comedy in major New York clubs, on TV, and in various rungs of the comedy inferno up and down the East Coast. She prefers to file this amalgam of experience under "Lust for Life" rather than "Needs Ritalin."

Her essays and features have appeared in Utne Reader, The Seattle Times, Seattle Magazine, and in The Iowa Review and other literary journals.

Maria is an avid vegetarian cook, hiker and cross-country skier, and would like to live in a strawbale house off the grid with rescued dogs and goats.
