Career Conversations: Throughout the year, CSO welcomes alumni and special guests back to campus for topic-specific presentations. These career conversations are a great way to get exposure to various fields in an informal setting. They are also a good place to hone your networking skills by speaking with the presenter during the question-and-answer period that follows every session.
Career Directions: CSO collaborates with faculty to conduct meetings for students in every academic discipline as part of the new Career Directions initiative, designed to provide valuable career information pertinent to your academic background and career interests. One aim of this initiative is to equip Middlebury graduates with the skills necessary to be among the most competitive in the job-search process.
Careers in the Common Good: Careers in the Common Good (CCG) is an exciting new program jointly sponsored by the Career Services and Service Learning, Community Service, and Student Employment Offices. The mission of the CCG program is to support students and alumni interested in pursuing careers that promote social responsibility.
The program includes a web site, brochure, office resources and special events, all designed to highlight examples of academic, experiential, and programmatic opportunities for social responsibility.
Celebrating Internships: Annual October event featuring student presentations on their internships in a wide range of career fields-at home and abroad-visual displays, refreshments, and information on finding internships.
Etiquette Dinner: CSO and Dining Services offer an annual Etiquette Dinner, with etiquette consultant Jodi Smith, of Mannersmith. Ms. Smith visits campus for a humorous and educational workshop complete with good food and great tips on important life skills such as networking and dining etiquette.
Off-Campus Interview Days: Middlebury College collaborates with other highly selective colleges throughout the academic year to provide seniors the opportunity to interview with multiple employers in New York, Boston and Washington, D.C. Seniors are pre-selected for interviews by participating in special resume collections for each of the five recruiting events. Please click here for specific information on participating organizations and application deadlines for each off-campus interview days in which Middlebury participates.
Wall Street 101: A semester long preparation program that enhances liberal arts students' ability to win internships and jobs within the finance industry. Typically, this program kicks off in the fall with Morgan Stanley's "Introduction to Wall Street" presentation. Next, CSO's "Super Saturday Simulation" features a panel of alumni/parents from the top firms, a networking luncheon with business keynote, and afternoon practice finance interviews. Students are also encouraged to attend the wide array of evening employer information sessions, finance-based career conversations, video/phone conference calls, and Student Investment Committee events such as modeling meetings and site visits to Banks in NYC and Boston.
