How did you get your current job?

I got my current job through prior experience in investment banking as well as networking and learning as much as I could about the business.

What do you like about your position?
I like the constant need to think critically. I enjoy the balance between analytical work and interaction with companies. I enjoy the daily risk/reward that is taken and the ability to score yourself on success.

What kind of people do well in your career field?
People that work well at a hedge fund are those that are analytical, resourceful, and strong communicators.

What activities where you involved in while at Middlebury?
At Middlebury, I was a member of the Lacrosse Team for 4 years as well as a member of the Student Investment Club and Michael Claudon's Digital Bridges class.

Did any of your summer jobs or internships influence your thinking about careers after college?
I believe that my summer job interning at Ernst and Young gave me exposure to teh financial world.

What advice would you give to students interested in working in your field?
My advice is to try and get in front of as many people as possible. Networking and analytical skills are the key to this business. I would also strongly suggest taking classes from Michael Claudon. He is definitely a teacher that is preparing you for the financial world.

How can students best prepare themselves while still in college?
While at Middlebury, get involved in athletics, Michael Claudon's classes, and the Student Investment Club. I would also suggest going to as many company presentations as possible and ask as many questions as possible.

What would you do differently?
If I went back, I would have taken more practical Sr. level econ classes than the theory classes that I took.

What are your future plans?
I plan to continue to work in the hedge fund business.
