Working Meeting
Members attended Committee meetings of the Carbon Neutral, Environmental Grants or Energy/Education Committees.
At 5 p.m., Council members returned for a briefing by the Environmental Grants committee on the grants they selected for awards. See attached briefing paper.
Connie provided an overview of the grant deliberation process and the desire of the Grants Committee to have the Council consider soliciting specific proposals related to recycled content paper purchasing and energy conservation work in collaboration with appropriate college staff. Connie will develop specific RFPs (Request for Proposals) to be considered by the Council at a later date.
Ten grants have received approval for funding totaling $16,339.73. Several other grants may receive funding pending revisions to their proposals. The Environmental Council received 19 grants requesting over $62,000.
Nan commended the work of the Grants Committee and the extra research Connie provided to assist the committee in its decision-making process. She also acknowledged Franci Farnsworth's participation on the Committee, providing a useful perspective as the College's Coordinator of Sponsored Research. Nan raised concerns that not all the grants were well researched and that it will be important for the program in the future to emphasize the importance of collaborative proposals between students, faculty and staff.

Subcommittee meetings were determined for the next week.
