MIDDLEBURY COMPETES IN |
 |
Once again, we are putting our reputation on the line as a waste reducing, recycling leader by competing in RecycleMania. Last year we competed with 100 colleges and universities in this EPA sponsored contest. We finished first in food waste composting and placed in the top ten of five other categories. We were also #1 in four of 7 categories in our athletic conference (NESCAC).
Middlebury's recycling achievements were recognized by the National Recycling Coalition. Missy Beckwith, our recycling program manager, attended and accepted an award on behalf of the college at their national meeting this summer.
The stakes are higher this year
Twice as many schools are competing for top honors this year - and our NESCAC rivals are looking to even up the score after last year Ten of the eleven NESCAC campuses are competing this year.
We have an outstanding waste management and recycling program here - the envy of many of our peers. It works best when we each do our part:
- minimize the amount of waste you generate;
- properly recycle the waste you create.
