Nothing relevant to disappearance of Nicholas Garza found in April 5 search of areas near campus
The Middlebury Police Department reports that a ground search for missing student Nicholas Garza took place on Saturday, April 5, primarily in the South Street and Weybridge Street areas. The search by the Addison County Community Emergency Response Team included sheds and garages, as well as woods and open areas that, until recently, had been covered with snow and ice. Searchers did not uncover anything relevant to the investigation.
Simultaneously, two members of the Saranac, N.Y., Fire Department Technical Rescue Team, working with members of the Middlebury Fire Department, began assessing the Otter Creek in preparation for an underwater search of the river tentatively scheduled for the middle of next week.
With the receding snow and milder temperatures, another ground search by combined teams is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, April 8.
