During the 1999-2000 fiscal year faculty members were once again awarded over $1 million from government agencies and private sponsors to support their research and other projects; 28 faculty members received a total of 38 grants and fellowships. In addition, faculty efforts (involving an additional 4 faculty members) resulted in three institutional grants to support the academic program. These faculty represent 15 of the College's academic departments, including all the departments in the Natural Sciences Division. The grants will support 31 students over the next few years as well as travel to research sites and conferences, research supplies, publication costs and other project expenses. Twelve of the grants provide some support for faculty leaves and six faculty grants include funding for scientific equipment. About one-third of the faculty submitted at least one grant proposal; 47% of those submitting proposals received at least one grant.

Copies of the full report are available to Middlebury College staff and faculty from the Grants Office by email.
