Primary Purpose |
|
Provides administrative support to the office of the Dean of Faculty.
|
Responsibilities |
Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.
Works cooperatively with other members of the Academic Affairs support staff and accepts direction from supervisors.
Maintains calendar for the Dean of the Faculty (DoF). Prepares DoF correspondence and reports. Provides administrative support for the Assistant to the VPAA, the Assistant to the DFDR and EAC as necessary.
Prepares agenda and materials for Department Chairs’/Program Directors’ meetings; provides support to the DoF for liaison role with CAOS Council.
In conjunction with Department Chairs, facilitates annual assignment of faculty offices. Liaison with Facilities Services on assignment issues.
Manages initial recruiting process (schedules candidate interviews with college administrators’ and lectures). Collects recruiting reports/affirmative action reports.
Monitors academic department budgets. Reconciles expenditures and processes vouchers for budgets administered by the Dean of Faculty, including endowed chairs, Ada Howe Kent, faculty leave budget, administered by the Dean for Faculty Development and Research.
Updates Faculty Handbook Supplement (Committee on Committees/Chair, Program Directory).
Responsible for all stages of the publication of the Handbook for Department Chairs, Program Directors and Department Coordinators, which includes contact with many college offices for annual revisions and updates.
Assists the Project-Director of the Middlebury-Monterey Integration Task Force (proposed).
Performs daily tasks required for efficient functioning of the DoF office.
May be asked to assist in processing of teaching evaluations.

Education & Training |
|
Bachelor degree or equivalent experience and secretarial training required.
|
Experience |
|
3-5 years previous administrative/secretarial experience required, preferably in an academic setting.
|
Knowledge |
|
Good organizational, phone and word processing skills. Working knowledge of office computer applications required, Macintosh or PC/Windows Word, Excel, FileMaker Pro preferred.

|
Must handle confidential information in a discreet manner and work well under pressure.
