Primary Purpose

Works in collaboration with the Director of the Center for International Affairs to develop a forward-looking and inclusive co-curricular program for the College's "international" peak of excellence.

Responsibilities

Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.

Supervises the Center's calendar of international activities (with the aim of avoiding scheduling conflicts) and communicates frequently with the College's Scheduling Office.


Assists the Director, Provost and Dean of Faculty in identifying and writing grants/proposals to foundations and donors in support of the academic and co-curricular programs related to the international peak.


Advises the Director on resource allocation issues within the international peak committee and attends all meetings of the peak committee.


Oversees the public space in the International Center with regard to co-curricular activities and identifies priority use for that space.


Works with the Center's Director and Directors of the IPE and IS majors, to identify, develop and ensure co-curricular support for the majors within the international studies peak.


Works closely with the Center's Director and Office of the Dean of Faculty to ensure clear communications within Academic Affairs on the co-curricular program, with particular focus on leveraging opportunities that support the international peak.


With the Director's oversight, undertakes the following:


Administers College grants received in support of the international studies peak.


Maintains the Center for International Affairs web page and works with the publications office to ensure accurate and consistent materials that describe the international peak and its constituent programs.


Develops and oversees the peak's newsletter, which should include news about the IS and IPE majors, plus other developments related to the College's efforts in building the international peak of excellence.


Assists in the development and maintenance of overseas internship opportunities, in conjunction with the CSO.


Oversees the Center's internship program, the Executive-in-Residence program, the International Studies Faculty Colloquium and the Scholar-In-Residence program.

Education & Training

Bachelor's degree required.

Experience

3-5 years' previous experience in fundraising, grant-writing and student activity coordination.

Knowledge

Knowledge of international studies programs, world affairs and external sources of funding.  High degree of computer literacy.

Other

Strong interpersonal skills necessary.  Must be able to work with various constituencies, both internal and external to the College.  Excellent written, organizational, administrative and research skills required.  Proven ability to motivate and direct staff and student interns as appropriate.  Willingness to travel and handle confidential information with appropriate discretion.
