Primary Purpose |
|
The Science Grants and Writing Facilitator, a three-year position with possible renewal, will report to the Academic Administration.
|
Responsibilities |
Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.
Institutional grants
- Planning in the sciences: developing processes to determine directions and needs; coordinating planning efforts; maintain data needed for science planning and grant proposals.
- Coordinating and providing leadership for institutional science grant proposals, including: identification of new opportunities, initiation of projects, helping develop new programs, addressing internal concerns and conflicts, crafting proposals.
- Preparing grant reports
- Serving as a liaison to Communications Office and College Advancement for issues related to science planning and faculty research.
Faculty grants
- Advising science faculty on grant proposals, grant reports, and journal manuscripts: critical reading and editing; customizing boilerplate language for proposals; assisting in development of proposal strategies and with technological issues
- Facilitating development of assessment and dissemination plans
- Work with Sponsored Research Office to facilitate submission of science faculty grant proposals; serve as back up to Coordinator of Sponsored Research for all issues related to faculty grant submissions.

Education & Training |
|
Background in science. M.A. in science writing or experience in science writing and/or planning. PhD in science and experience with science grant proposals preferred.

|
Excellent writing, organizational, and interpersonal skills; ability to move projects forward and meet deadlines. Work cooperatively with others and accept direction from supervisors.
