Primary Purpose |
|
The Assistant Director of Admissions is responsible for supporting the Office of Admissions in identifying, attracting, and enrolling an academically talented and diverse student body.
The Assistant Director acts as the College’s representative for all aspects of the admissions operation both on and off-campus in his/her work. This position will support the Coordinator of Multicultural Recruitment.

Responsibilities |
Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.
- Represent the College at high school visits, college fairs, on and off-campus events and other recruiting activities.
- Evaluate admissions applications and conduct interviews.
- Represent the College to prospective students, high school counselors, parents, alumni and other groups.
- Manage or help manage one or more programs or activities in the office, i.e., tour guides, visit programs, publications, etc.
- Manage one or more recruitment territories.
- May be responsible for special program oversight as assigned.
- Carry out other duties as assigned by the Director.

Education & Training |
- Bachelor’s degree required.
|
Experience |
|
- Some prior experience in admissions is preferred, but not required
|
Knowledge |
|
- Demonstrated excellence in writing, oral communication and presentations
- Exemplary customer service and relationship-building skills
|
Other |
|
- Proven ability to organize and follow through on projects
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a teamwork setting
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work in a wide variety of conditions and environments depending on the time of year: the office; schools, hotels, and homes while on the road; and occasionally from home during reading season
- Extensive travel and the ability to do so during inclement weather is essential.
- Evening and weekend work is routine during busier seasons.
- Strong commitment to liberal arts education
- Light physical activity is often required: moving tables and chairs, carrying materials on the road, lifting small boxes.
