Primary Purpose

Operated by the College, the downtown space at 51 Main Street will be used as a night club/wine bar three nights per week. 51 Main will be open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 5 PM to 1 AM.

The Bartender is a part-time, benefits eligible position.

Responsibilities

Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.

  • Greets customers and prepares drink orders as requested.
  • Performs function of Barista (espresso and related drinks).
  • Provides and monitors alcoholic beverage service.
  • Cleans and maintains all machinery in area on daily basis.
  • Washes glassware and equipment as necessary.
  • Accounts for all liquor served and monies collected.
  • Cleans work area after shift (including sweeping and mopping) and maintains an orderly kitchen.
  • Sets up work stations with appropriate foods and backups for service

  • Additional responsibilities include:

    • Ensure that food is fresh and in a proper storage temperature.
    • Cooks food items as ordered by customers with speed, efficiency and courtesy.
    • Stocks and orders inventory.
    • Reconciles cash receipts.
    • Attends training sessions.

    Education & Training

    High school diploma or equivalent experience required.

    Experience

    Some bartending experience required. Must have espresso experience.

    Knowledge

    Knowledge of espresso machine and components. Basic math skills. General knowledge of safety/sanitary aspects of food service areas. Successful completion of Vermont DLC training.
