BreadNet:
Manage the BreadNet Server (academic year as well as summer) for all Bread Loaf students, faculty and staff (some 1,000 active accounts); this includes opening accounts; setting up online conferences (about 150 conferences each year); training Bread Loaf faculty and students; troubleshooting technical problems for students during academic year by phone, online, and in person; working with Tom Cutter when the BreadNet server has technical problems (the server is located at Middlebury and physically maintained by Tom Cutter, Middlebury ITSD; Tom does system backups, troubleshoots system problems and manages the server connection to Middblebury's Internet backbone).
Computing and Technology during Summer Session at Bread Loaf in Vermont:
Spend the summer at Bread Loaf, Vermont. Coordinate setup of Apple Cellar (Bread Loaf's computer center) computers, software and connectivity with Middlebury ITS. Serve as liaison with Middlebury ITS during the summer. During the summer, troubleshoot lab problems at all campuses, and determine if it's necessary to call ITS for help solving technology problems. Help faculty and students with special technology needs: provide computer and LCD projector setup for computer-based presentations, solve many hardware and software problems related to the computers and printers that they bring to Bread Loaf, help them connect to their home insitution accounts from Bread Loaf and answer many questions about using BreadNet for an online component of their classes.
Computing and Technology at Alaska, New Mexico, and Oxford Campuses:Coordinate lab access hours, local support, software, and other needs with the site's technology staff. Management of BreadNet accounts for all students and faculty. Either conduct or arrange training sessions open to all students and faculty. Receive reports of all major technology problems and arrange resolution of those problems with the local technology staff.
Web Site Maintenance and Education:
Manage and direct all aspects of BreadNet as it moves more fully to the web. Work with Bread Loaf teachers to evaluate their own web sites and with departments of education such as those in South Carolina, Kentucky, Alaska, and Ohio and school districts such as those in Lawrence, MA, Greenville, SC, and Trenton, NJ.
