Primary Purpose |
|
The Budget Analyst works collaboratively with all facets of the budget process, including budget preparation, monitoring, reporting, training and analysis. This includes working with faculty and staff to maximize the usage of resources to support the mission of the College and assure prudent and responsible fiscal management.

Responsibilities |
Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.
- *Assist in developing guidelines, parameters, schedules and procedures for budget management.
- *Provide budget administrators with assistance in budget preparation and interpretation, providing explanations on specific budget items, monitoring revenues and expenses incurred, anticipate overspending problems.
- *Work with budget administrators to develop strategies to maximize budget efficiencies.
- *Perform on-going analysis of budgetary status and budgetary impact of supplemental needs and requests, prepare periodic and ad hoc analyses of budget versus actual for revenue and expenses, prepare supporting analysis of variance.
- *Work with departments in managing on-line budget input process, budget requests and assuring submission deadlines are met.
- *Provide rationale of budget procedures and policies, offering guidance in strategies for individual departments and making recommendations to solve special situations.
- *Research and resolve budget administrators' queries and problems.
- *Work with Deans and Directors of the Bread Loaf Schools of English, the Language Schools and Schools Abroad to implement budget procedures and provide oversight.
- *Assist with the annual Capital Equipment Request process, maintain capital equipment budgets, assure proper authorization for all capital equipment.
- *Provide budgetary support and analysis for annual renewal and replacement projects.
- *Provide support for the budget aspects of position control.
- *Identify and act on opportunities to automate, streamline and improve reporting and budgeting procedures administrators informed of budget status.
- Prepare materials for reporting and auditing as needed.
- Prepare reports for senior management, the Board, federal reports and surveys.
- *Perform other duties as assigned to assist the department in obtaining and maintaining its mission.

Education & Training |
|
Bachelor's degree with 2-3 years experience working with financial information.
|
Experience |
|
Computer experience with databases, spreadsheets and word processing, including detailed knowledge and comfort with spreadsheets.
|
Knowledge |
|
Strong verbal and written skills. Ability to articulate and implement policies. Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects.

Other |
Must have logical, analytical and problem-solving skills. Must have good interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Must handle confidential information with appropriate discretion.
