Primary Purpose

Manages overall administrative, organizational and informational aspects of comprehensive Middlebury College domestic and international internship programs.

Responsibilities

Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.

  • Advises/counsels individuals and groups of students on internship/employment research techniques, applications procedures and instruction in resume and cover letter preparation.
  • Provides practice interview opportunities to assist students in preparation for employment/internship/professional school interviews.
  • Manages named, funded internship programs (e.g. Ron Brown, Felton, Kutzner, Digel, and others to come) in their entirety: such as publicity, data entry, coordinate and manage selection committee meetings, all communications. Prepares and submits reports for Development Office and donors.
  • Manages the administration of funds designated as internship stipends for funded internship programs.
  • Manages approval process for winter term internships, working closely with students, Chair of Curriculum Committee, the Director of Undergraduate Records, faculty, and the Residential Commons Office to ensure proper approval, evaluation, and credit. Maintains and prepares statistics/reports affiliated with Winter Term program.
  • Coordinates Porter Hospital/pre-med internship program during Winter Term.
  • Establishes and maintains all systems (electronic, paper) to manage the categorization, evaluation, sorting, and publicity of all internship opportunities.
  • Supervises employment of student assistants.
  • Supervises Office Manager, holds weekly meetings, prepares annual performance evaluation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to assist the department in obtaining and maintaining its mission.

Education & Training

Bachelor of Arts degree required, preferably in Liberal Arts.

Experience

Higher education program coordination required. Experience in internship program coordination and placement strongly preferred.

Knowledge

Computer facility including database management, internet/web research and spreadsheets.
