Primary Purpose |
|
Oversees the development and strategy for career support services and programs serving alumni of Middlebury undergraduate, language schools, Bread Loaf programs, and MIIS. Creates this suite of services and programming for alumni within the mission of the Career Services - with dual goals of directly serving alumni, and strengthening alumni involvement in employment, internship, and career planning programs for students. Also serves as back-up career counselor for students, as needed at peak CSO periods.

Responsibilities |
Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.
- Reports to the Executive Director of Career Services.
- Develop and cultivate collaborative relationships with alumni, alumni groups, employers and the campus community.
- Act as liaison to the Office of Alumni & Parent Programs, Middlebury College Alumni Association board of directors, Language Schools, Bread Loaf School of English, and MIIS - maintaining on-going communication regarding career services available to alumni.
- Plan and design alumni career programming and services; collaborating with A&PP and MCAA as appropriate
- Oversee MiddNet Online - the alumni career volunteer database of 9,000 Middlebury alumni that is central to career support provided to Middlebury alumni and students. Manage the growth and marketing of MiddNet, and work with the CSO Technology Coordinator to maintain efficacy of system.
- Manage the CSO component of conversion of the MiddNet platform to the Harris system; collaborating with Alumni & Parent Programs office, Constituent Records office in College Advancement, and the Communications Office.
- Expand use of media technologies to broaden the reach of CSO programs and services to alumni nationally and internationally. Create and expand online programs (webinars, etc) and other technologies for reaching alumni with career programs.
- Develop an effective network of alumni career volunteers; collaborating with A&PP and MCAA as appropriate.
- Develop different channels of communication with alumni and alumni groups (including regional chapters) – for regularly disseminating career information to alumni.
- Develop and manage an effective system for informing alumni of current job listings.
- Develop, in conjunction with the Alumni & Parent Programs Office, an appropriate Career Services presence for Reunion, Homecoming, and other alumni gatherings.
- Assess and employ best methods for program delivery to alumni, including: on-site programs in key alumni cities/regions; online programs; on-campus events and programs; etc.
- Provide career counseling to individual alumni via telephone email, and in-person. Collaborate with other CSO counselors to provide specific assistance to alumni.
- Provide in-person career counseling to individual students. Deliver group career workshops to students.
- Assist other CSO staff members in identifying appropriate alumni for on-campus programs for students.
- Maintain the alumni sections of the CSO web page, researching current and best practices and resources.
- Ongoing development of ways in which CSO can be helpful to alumni and alumni can be helpful to CSO.

Masters degree required. Liberal arts education desired.

Experience in career counseling, counseling, outplacement services, employment recruiting, or human resources – desired.
