*Works closely with Executive Director of Career Services to develop expanded vision for Career Services.
*Builds a quality service-learning program as part of Career Service's comprehensive experiential learning initiatives that also provide opportunities for career exploration.
*Develops "real world" experiences for students through the development of a service learning component to our curriculum with interested faculty.
*Cultivates community-based partners for service-learning initiatives.
*Researches best practices in service-learning and shares these resources with faculty.
*Establishes an advisory committee involving faculty, staff, students and community partners.
*Helps faculty make connections for student placements that relate to their curricular goals.
*Serves on the College's Service Learning Grant Program's review committee, making grant awards to faculty, staff and students to foster the expansion of service learning initiatives.
*Identifies and develops opportunities for Commons-based service and service-learning initiatives.
*Supervises staff related to areas of responsibility, including the following: the Coordinator of Page 1, the Americorps VISTA member, the student employment program administrator, related student staff, AmeriCorps Educational Award recipients.
*Serves as budget administrator for related budgets.
*Oversees volunteer initiatives on campus.
*Advises and liaises with Volunteer Services and other service-oriented student organizations.
*Coordinates the orientation program, Volunteer Preview.
*Identifies and develops community-based partners for service.
*Expands opportunities locally, nationally and internationally for our students to engage in "real world" experiences through service.
*Oversees the College's position as host to Vermont Campus Compact.
*Serves as the College's administrative link to the Executive Director of Vermont Campus Compact. Problem solves to help meet institutional needs of the organization.
*Serves as the institutional representative in relation to state and national Campus Compact needs.
*Directs the student employment program including the review/revision of current policies and procedures with an eye toward improved systems and policies that incorporate the goals of Career Services into the student employment program.
*Reviews and revises the student wage scale, in cooperation with Human Resources.
*Creates and elaborates the connections between campus-based jobs and career exploration.
*Provides support and oversight to the person coordinating the multitude of details related to the operation of the student employment program (e.g. payroll, job postings, etc.).
Takes an active role as part of the leadership team for Career Services. Supports the Executive Director and assists in Director's absence as needed.
Participates and remains affiliated with appropriate professional organizations such as the National Society for Experiential Education and Campus Compact.
