Primary Purpose

Manages Careers in the Common Good program; develops, implements, and manages the overall marketing plan for the Career Services Office. Contributes as an active member of the CSO management and counseling team.

Responsibilities

Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.

  • Directs the Careers in the Common Good Program including the Web pages for CCG, the newsletter, the listserve, promotional materials, workshops and special events such as CCG Week and the Symposium.
  • Counsels students in drop-in counseling rotation.
  • Meets with and counsels students by appointment (especially students with interests in Environmental, Not-for-Profit, and Social Entrepreneurship).
  • Manages four Peer Career Advisors who will report to and work directly with designated Counselors to plan and implement the administrative logistics of their CSO events such as Senior Week, Super Saturday, the Internship Forum, Spring Job Fling, MOJO Madness, and others as needed; provides active supervision, training, and evaluation.
  • Manages the Career Conversation program, including outreach to and communication with guest speakers and faculty sponsors, logistics, marketing and evaluation; seeks out opportunities to co-sponsor these with academic departments, the Commons, and other campus departments.
  • Oversees the Career Directions program, insuring designated staff are creating and presenting events for their academic discipline areas.
  • Serves as CSO liaison to the Environmental Studies department, the department of International Politics and Economics, the Rohatyn Center, the department of International Studies and others as assigned.
  • Oversees the design, production, of all CSO publications including brochures, and other informational materials; insures compliance with use of college logos, etc.
  • Assists staff in strategic marketing and involvement with CSO events such as Senior Week, Super Saturday, the Internship Forum, Spring Job Fling, MOJO Madness, and others as needed (does not include Career Directions).
  • Develops proactive and innovative marketing/PR plans to publicize CSO programs and services to students, faculty and staff.
  • Implements communications strategies to maximize student awareness of/participation in CSO programs and services.
  • Oversees effective system for developing/maintaining positive working relationships with faculty regarding CSO programming and services.
  • Assists in maintaining an effective system for tracking student participation and measuring the effectiveness of CSO programs and services.
  • Manages scheduling and calendaring of CSO workshops, career conversations, and main events.
  • Manages a student worker and provides active supervision, training, and evaluation.
  • Serves as key point person with the Office of Public Affairs
  • Performs other duties as assigned to assist the department in achieving its mission.

Education & Training

Bachelor of Arts degree is required.

Experience

Work with students in a college setting. Demonstrated creativity, innovation.

Marketing and communications experience including marketing plan development, newsletters, publicity; management, supervisory experience a plus.

Knowledge

Ability to work effectively with students; Strong decision-making, problem-solving skills; self-directed; proactive; time management; sensitivity to deadlines; thorough follow-through and completion of initiatives.

Other

Occasional weekend, evening work required. Limited travel.
