Primary Purpose

Schedules and greets clients to the Counseling Service and provides secretarial services to the counselors and the Director.

Responsibilities

Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.

Schedules appointments for four counselors and the Health Educator.
Uses own discretion in urgency of calls and scheduling of appointments. 
Transcribes clinical notes.  Compiles daily record by client coding; compiles statistics for annual report.
Schedules appointments and types clinical notes for nutritionist.
Provides secretarial support for Director of Health Education, i.e. type materials for classes and lectures (on and off campus). 
Schedules and reserves space for group meetings given by counselors.
Takes and types minutes of Health Council meetings.
During summer months:  acts as Parton Health Center receptionist; transcribes clinical notes, schedules clients and secretarial work for Office of Health Education.
Prepares vouchers for travel and guest lecturers. 


Introduce service to each new student client.


Educate their self regarding all Student Affairs and Commons resources.


Meet periodically with on-going student clients to review checklist as needed re: a) Insurance information b) Referral to CSAC c) Signed release and consent forms d) Connection with other student services e) Other counseling related needs.



 

Education & Training

High school diploma or equivalent with secretarial training (typing, etc.) necessary.

Experience

2 years related experience in secretarial position preferred.

Knowledge

Medical terminology knowledge helpful. Word processing and other computer skills.

Other

Dictaphone, interpersonal and communications skills important. Must handle confidential materials with discretion.
